Ben mopes through a recap of Hawkeyes/Boilermakers to a bemused Eric. Ben rants about the inert Iowa offense while Eric ponders the reasons why they are so bad. 

Next is some gloating for Eric thanks to his Gophers (who I think beat Purdue) handling the Cornhuskers. Does it matter who their running backs are? Is Tanner Morgan back?

After their take on the fake injuries, some updated Big Ten West prediction, closing with movie and beer talk.

Pod of Rosedale Episode 1.8

It's a recap of Hawks-Penn State and some of the, er, baffling decisions by Kirk at the end of the game along with appreciating the rarefied-air the Hawks find themselves in. 

 

What is happening with Trey Potts along with Gophers-Huskers.

 

A new game: Georgia or Iowa?

 

Depositions are delayed in the racism lawsuits. Ben and Eric hash it out.

Ben and Eric try to parse out the merits of this confusing Gopher squad.

Then, some history and some hype for the #3 and #4 matchup in Kinnick.

Finally, Ben annoys Eric with some advanced stats and some miscellaneous nonsense.

Eric comes in hot with a tidal-wave of incredulity-fueled rage at the Gopher loss and discuss the Gophers quarterback-quagmire. 

Ben unsuccessfully tries to convince Eric that the Hawkeyes are not actually one of the five best college football teams.

Ben and Eric meander through some thoughts on the wide-open Big Ten West.

They end with some predictions, a revelation about "The Neverending Story" and a huge thank you to anybody and everybody that voted in "Theme Song Battle."

Ben and Eric talk about the Gophers putting the Colorado Buffaloes on the endangered species list and express incredulity at the scarcity of the Pac-12 Network.

Ben continues to express confusion and paranoia about the Hawkeye's offense to Eric's annoyance.

Ben tries to talk Eric off the ledge after the Gopher's narrow victory over Miami (Ohio) and they puzzle over Tanner Morgan. 

Commentator of the week continues!

Eric tries to force Ben onto the Hawkeye-hype train and admonishes him for his lack of faith. Ben declines for fear of the train derailing and then feeling disappointed. (Ben also implies Eric is a hypocrite.) 

A brief acknowledgment of Hawkeyes/Kent State before speculation on Trey Potts' ability to replicate Ibrahim's production and speculation of the Gophers' final record. 

The close with a new segment "P.J.'s How Movies of the Week."

Ben and Eric start by creating a shameless shtick which is little more than a ploy to generate comments before diving into the Week One action. They ponder what positives to take away for Minnesota from their 14-point loss to OSU and the impact of losing Mohamed Imbrahim for the season. 

Next up they revel in the beauty and majesty of Iowa's win over Indiana and acknowledge the splendor of Iowa's defense. Eric then tells Ben and Hawkeye fans writ large to chill out about Spencer Petras. 

Finally, after a brief acknowledgement of Minnesota's game against the Miami Redhawks, they discuss the recent history and localized weirdness and intensity of the Iowa-Iowa State matchup, closing with their predictions for perhaps the most epic Iowa-ISU game of all-time. 

Pod of Rosedale Episode 1.2

We are back to usher in the season!

There is some front-end banter before we disagree about how and how badly the Gophers will lose to the Buckeyes. (And Eric shoehorns in a conversation about his favorite NFL QB, Kirk Cousins.)

Next the discuss the sure-to-cause-a-heart-attack game between Iowa and Indiana while making sure they are saying the word "Penix" correctly.

We close with Eric indulging Ben's desire to revel in the beautiful misery that was Nebraska's season-opening loss to Nebraska.

Pod of Rosedale Episode 1.1:

"Hey Pat"

"Yeah Ben?"

"uh, how about we do a podcast where we talk about Iowa football every week?"

"That is what I am asking about. Are you just repeating my idea back to me as though it is an original thought?"

"Right, uh, well, here is what makes it different. I invite my Gopher friend on the podcast and we also talk about the Gopher football team, and uh, we put the podcast on a Hawkeye fan website..."

The truth is, chemistry is hard to replicate. Despite what I would consider a healthy bevy of friends in real life, none of them care about the Hawkeyes nearly enough to do a weekly podcast with me about them. Rather than hope a couple of strangers jive well enough to float such a podcast, a couple of honest-to-goodness pals are going to attempt to turn their weekly arguments about their college teams over their work lunch into a podcast. 

The conceit is simple enough: We release a podcast in the middle of each week. Half the podcast will be devoted to the previous week's Gopher and Hawkeye games and the other half to previewing the next week's games. This frees us up from having to fill too much time on any one topic and provides some flexibility with where we spend our discussion time. (Case-in-point: Week 2 features Iowa-Iowa State while the Gophers play Miami of Ohio. We will probably spend just a bit more time on that Hawkeye matchup during that particular podcast.) 

I look forward to you folks meeting Eric, a proud son of St. Paul and begrudging Gopher fan, as he and I bicker through this college football season. Please keep in mind that we are two middle-aged dudes bumbling through this. Listens and downloads matter to the success of the podcast, but the most important thing is that we want this to actually be fun to listen to. So please, please, please give us some feedback.
